Serre-Chevalier – The biggest ski resort in the French Southern Alps

Serre-Chevalier is the ski resort of my childhood.
This is where I learnt skiing when I was 2.
This is also where I spent countless stays over the years because it’s only 3 hours drive from Marseille and a close friend of the family has a châlet there.Serre Chevalier 2 Serre-Chevalier is the biggest ski resort in the Southern Alps with 250 km of ski slopes.
It’s the kind of resort where you can spend a day without doing twice the same slope.Serre Chevalier 1
The ski slopes can be accessed from 4 locations: Briançon, Chantemerle, Villeneuve and Monêtier.

My favourite place to stay is Villeneuve because it’s the one I know the best. The old part of the village is cute with few but nice shops.

Briançon is a little town. It’s known for its Vauban’s fortifications that have been classified by the UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 2008 and worths a visit if you have time.Briancon 1 Briancon 2
