easyHotel

You certainly know easyJet. But do you know that it’s part of easyGroup, which includes many other low-cost services such as easyCar, easyBus, easyGym and easyHotel?

EasyHotel is a “no frills super budget” hotel operator with more than 20 hotels in various locations in Europe but also in Dubai and South Africa.
It has the same concept than easyJet: you get the basic service and if you want any additional services, you will have to pay extra.

I tried a easyHotel for a night and will tell you about my experience.

As everyone knows, it’s very hard to find a cheap and decent hotel in London.
I was looking for a hotel near Paddington station for one night for my father and I. I really wanted to find a room in this area because we had planned to go to Windsor the day after and we wanted to take an early train. Moreover, I knew that there were plenty of hotels around. I first had a look at the Mercure and Hilton hotels, which are the nearer, but they were extremely expensive. Then, I had a look at Booking.com to see what it suggested. I had a maximum budget of around £100.00. In that range, the hotels offered were more or less all the same with an awful old-fashioned decoration. I finally booked a room for £89.00 but I wasn’t very convinced by my choice. I had the possibility to cancel the reservation until the 10 November for free, which I did.
On 10 November, I was chasing the Paddington statues around Paddington station when I passed by the easyHotel Paddington.
I had totally forgotten about it. Back home, I checked the availabilities, cancelled my first reservation and booked a new room for only £50.00!
As you can imagine, for this price, you only have the minimum but at the same time the most important things: a bed made up with cotton sheets and a duvet and an en-suite shower bathroom with a bath towel for each guest.
The room I booked even had a window! A luxury when you know that you can book a room without a window for a cheaper price. As I booked quite late, I didn’t have the choice but I think that I would have opted for a room with a window anyway.
Then, you have to pay extra for all other services that aren’t essential for a good night of sleep like Wifi, cleaning…

Check in time is from 03:00 pm. We arrived at 06:00 pm at the hotel only to collect the key. But if you want an early check in or to leave some bags for the day, there will an extra charge.

Then, we went to the room to leave our bags.
The room was equipped with a queen-size bed, 2 hooks (but no luggage storage) and a TV. But if you want to get the remote control to watch the TV, there will be an extra charge.
There was no A/C panel to control the temperature of the room, which was pleasant to be honest (not too cold but not too warm). And there is no possibility to pay an extra to control it, at least not yet!
The bathroom was equipped with a shower (with a distributor of soap and shampoo), a washbasin and a toilet.
It was very tiny and you could have peed, brushed your teeth and checked the water temperature in the shower at the same time.
Both the room and the bathroom were perfectly clean.

After our exploration of the room (less than 1 minute), we went out again and only came back at 11:00 pm to take a shower and go to bed.

We slept quite well. The mattress was good. The only reproach I can make is that the sheet seemed to be too small. I had to be careful to sleep on the sheet and not on the mattress itself.

The morning after, we left the room at 9:00 am. Check out time is before 10:00 am and if you want to have a late check out or to leave your bags for the day, there will be an extra charge.

To conclude, I will stay again in an easyHotel if I need a room for one night, only to sleep and not to relax and don’t have too many bags. Therefore I will have more money to spend in shopping for example!

Reservations can only be made online on the easyHotel website: http://www.easyhotel.com
