Croque-Monsieur recipe

As I previously mentioned, I’m far from being the best cook in the world. I like simple but tasty meals. I also know a few recipes in case we have some guests and my boyfriend is not available to make lunch or dinner (I can’t always rely on him!).

I might share a recipe from time to time, when I think that it is worth. And croque-monsieur is one of them! It’s very easy and quick to prepare, this is why it’s an idea to remember on a lazy day.

I love croque-monsieur so much!!!! I used to eat one once a week when I was younger. But today is the first one I made in London. Why? Because I was missing a crucial ingredient: tasty grated cheese like Emmental or Gruyère and not Cheddar or Mozzarella.

So the discovery of Emmental “President” at Waitrose made my day.

There are many recipes for croque-monsieur but for me, the best is the simplest.

     2 slices of loaf bread
     A slice of cooked ham
     Grated cheese

Take the butter out of the fridge at least 30 min before to soften it
Turn on the oven at 180°C
Spread butter on the 2 slices of loaf breadCroque-2BMonsieur-2B2 Add the grated cheese on each sliceCroque-2BMonsieur-2B3 Put a slice of ham on one slice of loaf Croque-2BMonsieur-2B4 Close the sandwich
Put the sandwich in the oven for about 10/15 min and turn over at mid-time.
When the bread is golden, it’s finally ready!Croque-2BMonsieur-2B6 A croque-monsieur is not be enough in its own. You can for example serve it with a salad in summer or with a bowl of soup in winter.
